Both bottles hold 240 mL and both list 48 one-teaspoon servings. So the comparison is simple. Plant of Life is $29.99 CAD, or $0.125 per mL. Amazing Herbs is CA$59.01 on iHerb Canada, or $0.246 per mL.
That works out to about 62 cents per serving for Plant of Life against about $1.23 for Amazing Herbs. On Amazon.ca it gets worse: a third-party seller lists the 8 oz Amazing Herbs bottle at $111.32. Subscribe to Plant of Life and you pay $26.99 a bottle.
Organic and pressing
Plant of Life is made with certified organic ingredients and lists one ingredient: 100% cold-pressed black seed (Nigella sativa) oil.
Amazing Herbs is cold-pressed in the USA from a heat-free virgin first pressing, and its ingredient is unrefined virgin black cumin seed oil. Its own site says the seeds are Turkish Nigella sativa and chemical and pesticide-free. It carries the Non-GMO Project Verified seal. Organic certification is not listed on the iHerb listing or the brand's product page.
If organic matters to you, that is the deciding line.
Thymoquinone on the label
Thymoquinone is the compound black seed oil buyers look for most. Plant of Life's supplement facts panel lists 82 mg per 1 tsp serving. Amazing Herbs lists 48 mg per 1 tsp serving and a minimum of 1.2%.
Both are label claims from the brands. Amazing Herbs also notes that batches may vary in TQ content.
Bottle and taste
Plant of Life ships in an amber bottle. Amazing Herbs does not list its bottle material on the pages we checked.
Neither brand gives detailed tasting notes. Amazing Herbs says its batches may vary in taste and colour. Plant of Life suggests taking it on its own or mixed into juice or a smoothie, which is the easy way to handle black seed oil's strong flavour.

Who should buy which
Buy Amazing Herbs if:
- You want the brand with the longest track record. It has been on iHerb since January 2008 and has 17,312 reviews there.
- You want a small trial size first. iHerb Canada sells a 30 mL bottle for CA$11.89 and a 120 mL bottle for CA$35.61. Plant of Life comes in one size, 240 mL.
- You already have an iHerb cart over CA$55 and want everything in one box.
Buy Plant of Life if:
- You want organic black seed oil.
- You want to pay about half as much per mL for the same 240 mL size.
- You want a higher thymoquinone number on the label: 82 mg per teaspoon vs 48 mg.
- You want CAD pricing, Canadian shipping times and a 30-day wellness guarantee from a Canadian brand.
What to look for when buying
- Compare per mL, not per bottle. Divide the price by the mL. Here it is $0.125 vs $0.246.
- Check for organic certification. "Non-GMO" and "pesticide-free" are not the same claim as certified organic.
- Read the thymoquinone line. Brands that print mg per serving let you compare directly.
- Single ingredient only. The label should list Nigella sativa oil and nothing else.
- Know the landed cost. Add shipping, and for US sites, customs and brokerage.
