Short answer: the best inulin powder in Canada is organic, made from one named plant, and fairly priced per 100 g. Plant of Life Organic Inulin is organic inulin from chicory root, $29.99 CAD for 454 g or $48.99 for the 946 g bag, which works out to $5.18 per 100 g.
If price per gram is all that matters, PURICA and Elo's Premium sell slightly cheaper big bags. And if Benefiber is in your cart, know this: it is wheat dextrin, not inulin. Details below.

How we compared
We compared label facts and prices for seven inulin and fibre powders that Canadians can order today from Amazon.ca, brand websites and our own store. Prices were checked October 28, 2026, in Canadian dollars unless marked US$. Price per 100 g is the shelf price divided by the bag size. The plant source and serving size come from each label or listing. Anything a brand does not state is marked "not listed."

Best overall: Plant of Life Organic Inulin
Plant of Life is the only inulin in our table that is labelled organic, names chicory root as its source, and comes in a 2 lb bag. The 946 g size is $48.99, or $5.18 per 100 g. The 454 g bag is $29.99.
The ingredient list is one line: 100% organic inulin. It has a mild, slightly sweet taste and dissolves well, so people stir it into smoothies, yogurt, granola, baked goods and their morning coffee. You also get CAD pricing, free shipping on $49+ and a 30-day wellness guarantee.
Best budget per gram: PURICA Fiberlicious
PURICA is the cheapest per gram in our table that you can buy on Amazon.ca: $37.95 for 800 g, or $4.74 per 100 g. It is chicory root inulin, made in Canada, vegan and gluten-free, and the brand says it dissolves instantly in coffee or tea. Each serving lists 9 g of inulin, for an 89-day supply.
Organic status is not listed. If you want the lowest price on chicory inulin and organic is not a must, PURICA is a smart buy.
Best big organic bag: Elo's Premium Organic Inulin
Elo's Premium sells a 1 kg bag on Amazon.ca for $48.95, or $4.90 per 100 g, listed as certified organic and packaged in Toronto. That is a hair cheaper per gram than Plant of Life's 946 g bag.
The trade-off: the listing does not name the plant source or a serving size. If chicory root matters to you, that is a gap. If you just want the most organic inulin for the money, Elo's is worth a look.
Best agave inulin: NOW Organic Inulin
Searching for chicory inulin? Check NOW's label. The Canadian 227 g jar on Amazon.ca lists its organic inulin as coming from the blue agave plant. It is certified organic, Non-GMO Project Verified and packaged in Canada, with 2.8 g per teaspoon and 81 servings.
At $18.50, it costs $8.15 per 100 g, about 57% more per gram than Plant of Life's 946 g bag. It is a fine pick if you prefer agave.
Best-known chicory blend: Prebiotin
Prebiotin is chicory root fibre made of oligofructose plus inulin, which the brand calls oligofructose-enriched inulin. A 246 g jar holds 60 servings at 4.1 g per scoop, and the brand suggests starting at 1 to 2 g and working up.
Shown in Canadian dollars, the jar is CA$45.60, or $18.54 per 100 g, more than three times the price per gram of Plant of Life. It ships from the US, and free international shipping starts at US$250.
Heads up: Benefiber is not inulin
Benefiber is the fibre most Canadians already know, and it is often shelved next to inulin. Its Canadian label lists one ingredient: wheat dextrin. It contains wheat. The 248 g tub is $14.98 on Amazon.ca, with 2 tsp (4 g) per dose. If you are shopping for inulin or chicory root fibre specifically, this is a different product.
Organika lists no pure inulin powder on its own site. Its Belli-Bliss Fibre is a blend: 420 g for $29.99 on Amazon.ca, with 2 g of chicory root inulin per serving alongside citrus and tapioca fibres. Anthony's organic inulin, made from Jerusalem artichokes, is US$17.29 per pound but shows as sold out on its own site, and we did not find it on Amazon.ca.
What to look for when buying
- A named plant source. Chicory root, agave and Jerusalem artichoke all give inulin. The label should tell you which one.
- Organic on the label. Four of the seven powders in our table say so. "Natural" is not the same thing.
- Pure inulin, not a blend. Blends and wheat dextrin products are different fibres. Look for one ingredient.
- Price per 100 g. Bags run from 227 g to 1 kg, so compare per gram, not per bag.
- A slow start. Plant of Life suggests 1 to 2 tsp a day, building up to 1 tbsp, so your gut can adjust.

FAQ
Is inulin the same as chicory root fibre?
Chicory root is the most common source of inulin, so the two names often mean the same thing. But inulin also comes from agave and Jerusalem artichoke, which is why labels differ. In our table, Plant of Life, PURICA and Prebiotin use chicory, NOW uses blue agave and Anthony's uses Jerusalem artichoke.
What foods are high in inulin?
Chicory root and Jerusalem artichoke are two of the richest sources, which is why most powders start there. Agave, onions, garlic, leeks, asparagus and bananas also contain inulin. Most people do not eat those foods in large amounts every day, so a spoon of inulin powder is an easy way to add more fibre.
Can you put inulin in coffee?
Yes, and it is one of the most popular ways to take it. Plant of Life inulin has a mild, slightly sweet taste and dissolves well, so it can go into coffee without changing the flavour. Start with 1 teaspoon stirred into a hot cup, then build up over a few weeks.
Is organic inulin powder better?
Organic tells you how the source plant was grown, so it is worth having on a fibre you take every day. Four powders in our table are labelled organic: Plant of Life, Elo's Premium, NOW and Anthony's. Of those, only Plant of Life combines organic with a chicory root source.
How much inulin should I take a day?
Follow your label and start low. Plant of Life suggests 1 to 2 teaspoons daily, building up to 1 tablespoon. NOW suggests 1 teaspoon once or twice a day. Prebiotin suggests starting at 1 to 2 g and working up to 4 to 8 g. Going too fast can cause gas or bloating.
